Eugene Joseph Kane Jr. of Clarks Summit and Vero Beach, Florida, died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Born in Scranton, he was the son of Joan Flynn Kane and the late Eugene J. Kane. He was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory and the University of Scranton. James T. Volz of Scranton died unexpectedly Tuesday. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan O’Brien Volz.

He was also an active member and volunteer with Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Scranton, where he faithfully served as head usher and council member for many years. Thomas Z. Swinick of Dunmore died Monday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife of forty-one years Geralyn Noone Swinick. She was his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. Born in Dunmore, he was the son of Margaret A. Marhevka Swinick of Florida and the late Zachary T. Swinick.

He is survived by a twin brother, James C. Barrett and wife Debra, Clarks Summit; sisters Barbara A. Jordan and husband Tom; and Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Laffey and husband Pat, Scranton, and loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In his younger years, Bill cherished his time boating at the family cottage at Chapman Lake. As he progressed as a “Captain,” he thoroughly enjoyed his time at the helm of the “Southern Cross” (his “cabin cruiser”) on Lake Wallenpaupack. He was born and raised in Blakely, the son of the late John R.

Ed also served on the board of trustees of Scranton Preparatory School as well as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Scranton. On Friday, August 20, 2021 Charles “Chuck” Sardo was released of his worldly bonds to meet his creator. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Frances Acculto Sardo. Born in 1929 in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Philip and Carmella Saracino Sardo .

Robert W. Scartelli of Dunmore died Sunday at Glenmaura Senior Living in Moosic. He was preceded in death by his wives Jean DiMattia Scartelli and Marcia Hess Scartelli. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert and Stella Olsheski Scartelli and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Penn Yan Express in Carlstadt, NJ for 35 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Samuel Cali Insurance Agency, Dunmore. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Seraphin C. Wandalowski, MD and Josephine Bartkowski Wandalowski. He was a deeply devoted Catholic and a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Scranton. Kenneth was a graduate of Scranton Central High School where he excelled in both football and baseball. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. And Mary M. Teevan Grady and was a graduate of Dunmore High School class of 1941. She was a member of Our Lady of Snows Parish, Clarks Summit. Prior to her retirement she was a cook for the Nativity convent.

Many friends of her children say that she was their second Mom. Close family members and friends describe her as one of the kindest, most caring, thoughtful and loving persons that they had ever known. Her sisters and brothers in-law and nieces and nephews were very important to her. She loved them and had special relationships with all of them. Nancy P. Haudenschield of South Abington Township died Monday at home surrounded by her loving family.
As a child, Buddy attended Nativity School in South Scranton until the age of 10 when he and his sisters sadly lost both their parents. As an orphan, Buddy was sent to live with his uncle, Father John White, in Hazelton. He spent the following year at St. Gabriel’s School in Hazelton before moving back to South Scranton where he attended Pistoria School on Pittston Avenue. “Ruthie” graduated from Dalton High School in 1948, Keystone College in 1950 and attended the University of Scranton.
Sisk 17th September John RIP, beloved husband of Anne , loving father of Marysia , Martin and Cecilia and dear brother of the late Seamus and Paul. On Saturday June 12, 2021 Margaret ” Marge” Reilly was joined in heaven with her husband Thomas ” Tucker” Reilly and son Thomas Jr., along with her sisters Annie, Genet, Irene, Nancy, Olga, Mary and brother Andrew. One of her favorite things to do was organizing many family gatherings, especially at the summer house at Lake Winola. Family and friends were always welcome and the meals were delicious.
